Bewildering Stories introduces and welcomes...
M. D. Smith
M.D. has been “married to the same woman” for many years. They live with pets in Huntsville, Alabama and have many children and grandchildren. M.D. managed self-storage facilities for twenty years and worked in television broadcasting for thirty-six. He has an MFA degree in Writing Popular Fiction and has published over 150 non-fiction stories and 250 fiction stories, In addition, M. D. has published three romance novels and three flash fiction collections.
“Artificial Learning Bias” sounds a caution in this age of burgeoning artificial intelligence. The more computers think and act like human beings, the less we want them to do that. In M.D.’s story, a spaceship captain finds he can’t just pull the plug on a headstrong teenager of a computer, he needs to sic a starn-mother computer onto him. Perhaps humanity ought to encircle the Solar System with space buoys that broadcast to space aliens: “Danger, humans. And don’t trust their artificial intelligence, either.”
