Varden’s writng includes primarily the weird, paranormal and mysterious. He has issued a few hardboiled paranormal mystery novels and many short stories ranging in theme from Lovecraftian horror to LGBT+.

“Leeder’s Doll Limb Bouquet Co.” is one of the few stories that has caused the Readers’ Guide description to caution the readers about violence. The premise is a quest for social justice in a factory workplace. The narrative magnifies an equivalent of the 19th-century labor wars with a dose of magic.
