Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Mickey Kulp
Mickey lives with his family in Atlanta, Georgia. He has published fiction, non-fiction and poetry widely in various journals, newspapers and anthologies. He has created a reading series for the benefit of a local food co-operative. And he reports that his next book is coming along nicely.
“Cultural Translation” is likely to make a bad first impression. Readers may think, “What kind of joke is that?!” But on rereading, they’ll realize that the space aliens, strange as they may seem, are actually in the same position as Earthlings greeting each other for the first time across a wide cultural divide. What is the right thing to say as a greeting? Second-language learners will take an important lesson: Watch what others say and do. And, when it comes to saying, “Hello,” don’t get personal about it.
