Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Myra Litton
Myra lives in London, where she studies creative writing. She has had considerable success in poetry and songwriting.
“The Human Zoo” reprises extensively a time-honoured trope of science fiction: “We’re property.” If people are experimental subjects, how shall we feel about it, and what will the observers see?
Denny Marshall’s “Mousetrap,” in issue 761, depicts an initial capture. In The Twilight Zone, “People Are Alike All Over” (1960), a Martian feels pity for the Earthling astronaut (Roddy McDowell), who is caged in a luxurious but sterile apartment under the view of a curious public. Myra’s poem asks, ironically, “What do we have to do to get out of here?”
