“The Violent Birth of Blue” is classified as flash fiction but might equally well be considered prose poetry. The narrative might briefly summarize the history of our Solar System with an apocalypse approaching in the form of a rogue planet. And yet another apocalypse might have already taken place on the blue planet. Any or all of them seem unsettlingly plausible.
