Belief, continued

by Jerry Wright

However, just because you believe it, doesn't make it so. Pity, or perhaps we should be grateful. Anyway, onward and sideways, because upward is filled with southward flying geese...

Asimov's January issue, which I have in my hot little hand, reviews a book series called Nemonymous -- stories by authors who shall remain anonymous until the next issue. I believe it is a yearly issuance. Anyway, Nemonymous 3 is out, and one of the stories the reviewer liked was called "Digging for Adults". And he quoted a short chunk.

Hmm. Sounds familiar. So, off to the Archives for a spin on Search Engine. Aha. Issue 3! D. Harlan Wilson and "Digging for Adults". I checked out his website, and "lo and behold" "Digging for Adults" is mentioned in his website www.dharlanwilson.com. And WOW, we had it first. This is unutterably cool. And in a letter to me, he said he was happy it was published first in BWS. So even as far back as Issue 3, we had good stories, and actually, as far back as issue 1. With Sherry Gray's "Lawn Nazis".

Speaking of "Lawn Nazis", I have to get off my duff and get permissions from everyone for the forthcoming Bewildering Stories -- Year One, because we only have electronic rights for one issue. I've chosen 25 stories and articles for the volume, although I need two more poems. And by the way, if anyone has a suggestion for those two poems, pitch 'em to me. Right now the book is 145 pages long, so being 147 (or 148 if I get a "Backward" from Don and/or Spud) is really just about right.

We've gotten several more positive comments on "White Kangaroo", and because of that, I'm gonna see if I can wrangle an interview with Thomas Lee Joseph Smith. Anyway, time's up, you lose. Or no you don't, you win, because you have another wonderful issue of Bewildering Stories to consume. So eat up!
