Random as Raindrops

by Ronald Linson

Take a sheet of cardboard,
Mark out a grid
And write in the lottery numbers,
However many there might be.

Wait for a rain shower,
Not a drizzle; too light.
Not a downpour; too much.
Halfway between is just right.

Hold out the cardboard
For just a second or three,
And let the drops choose
Your winning numbers to be.

Try it, it ought to work,
Because there's nothing as random as the rain.

But remember:
If you win,
I want my share!
