Rob has a record of publication that goes beyond prolific: many articles on health and medicine; pieces in many humor magazines; many scripts for stage and TV; two fictional memoirs; and a children’s picture book.

“The World in Gunnar’s Barn” will immediately draw readers in with its realistic portrayal of two neighbours. One of them borrows tools from Gunnar, who is perpetually busy with weird projects he undertakes in his garage, also known as his “barn.”

The set-up is ripe for comedy. However, when tiny space aliens set up shop in Gunnar’s “barn,” readers will begin to discover that the story is really an allegory. It’s reminiscent of Voltaire’s classic short story Micromégas. And readers ought to consider the difference in points of view. What has become of Enlightenment optimism in the 21st century?
