Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Joseph McKinley
Joseph lives in Kentucky, where he works as a researcher. For three years he taught English in mainland China.
“Perfect Wisdom Berry Blast” is serialized in issues 708-711 in order to make room for other titles in our regular issues. But the story is complete on line as of this issue; you can read ahead of the schedule.
The tone of the story is given away by the title. It’s a comic romp featuring a family of tea-pickers who discover that the monk’s berry has the peculiar quality of making people wisely perceptive of their situation in life. Is that good or bad? Well... it really all depends on what one’s situation is.
And, of course, any mind-altering berry is going to attract the attention of marketers out for a fast buck, as well as that of a clever general in the People’s Liberation Army. All told, it’s the readers who’ll have a real “berry blast.”
Joseph McKinley’s bio sketch can be found here.
Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Joseph. We hope to hear from you again soon and often!
