Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Matthew K. Bernstein
Matthew lives in Westchester, New York, where he is a senior in high school. He loves dystopian writing, animals and bad weather. At age 16, Matthew is among the youngest contributors to Bewildering Stories. The record is still held by Katherine Allen and, perhaps, Emily M. Peters. But we’re not keeping score; new writers young or old are what BwS is here for, and we love to be able to encourage them.
“The Collision” borrows significantly from George Orwell’s 1984 for its setting, namely a world run by colluding dictatorships. The story switches point of view twice in order to show the interior experience of two brothers caught in a societey dominated by paranoia and intrigue. But the ending is not the same as that of 1984. Readers will have to see for themselves...
