Eleanor Lerman

Eleanor is the author of six award-winning collections of poetry, two collections of short stories, and two novels. She has also been a National Book Award finalist, the recipient of the 2006 Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize from the Academy of American Poets and a 2007 Poetry Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. In 2011 she was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship.

“What If There Is a Hidden World That We Can’t See?” brings onstage a middle-aged lady named “Chris.” Now, Chris has no Olympian-scale talent; she’s down and out, like a lot of others of her age and condition in today’s world. Quite understandably, she doesn’t feel very good about herself, and a strange experience causes her to retreat. But an “angel” of sorts invites her to look up and around, outside of herself... That’s where the “hidden world” is.
