His garden flew away that morning. He had stepped out, seen the sunshine, and waded through a thick slimy puddle in front of his house...and his garden was gone.
He could see it in the sky, soaring among the clouds.
"Come back here!" he says, even though he knows for a fact that they won't come back.
He watches until they disappeared beyond the horizon.
Then he goes back inside.
She waits there, with an angry expression on her face.
"I--" he says, but she interrupts.
"Don't talk to me like that! I know what happened."
Surprised, he says, "What?"
"You know what happened," she said, her hands on her hips.
"Look, I--"
She glares at him.
"Well, you mean the garden?"
"You know exactly what I mean."
He doesn't know what to say.
"It's gone, you know that," she said, her eyes glaring at him.
"Well, I couldn't help it..."
"Of course you could. You could have been a better gardener. Now it's gone, and there's no way the human race will continue after this."
Shocked, he doesn't say anything. He looks down at his feet.
"You've doomed us all," Eve says. She turned and stomped down the hall.
Adam looked up. The door slams. He walked back outside, got in his plane, and flew away to try to get the garden back.
