Mike McNichols

Mike is originally from San Diego but now lives in Irvine, California, where he is the director of the Fuller Seminary’s Orange County Regional Campus. He has studied theology, biblical studies and leadership and has worked in education, business and the ministry.

Mike says he usually writes about theology and faith and that his supernatural thrillers usually have a theological question or two. He has published a collection of short stories as well as a trilogy of vampire novels. His first novel, The Bartender: A Fable about a Journey, was an award-winning doctoral project.

“I Shot Sonny Battalion” may come as a surprise to readers who expect something other than noir crime fiction from a cleric, a minister, a man of the cloth. But ministers and priests often hear of the dark side of life from their own parishioners; that is, after all, a big part of their calling.

And in Mike’s story we discover that even Franky, who has grown up to be a gangsters’ hit man, has a kind of epiphany, a moment where he looks back on his life and realizes, at a moment of crisis, that he must make a choice and take a stand.
