We’re going to have to stop saying that some of our contributors live “far away” or words to that effect; that’s much too provincial an attitude. Everybody is equally far away from another person on the other side of the world, and with today’s Internet, what does it matter? If you live in the north Atlantic, near the Arctic circle, Asgrímur Hartmannsson is practically your next-door neighbor. And issue 57 brought us a rollicking story from the far-flung island outpost of Heimaey... Oops, from an Arctic island that is now our virtual next-door neighbor.
Now that you’ve read “Piece of Cake,” it will come as no surprise that Asgrímur’s interests include automobiles, among other things. Check out his bio, which is quite in the tradition of Bewildering Stories: something unexpected.

This is a belated but not untimely greeting. Shawn P. Madison is a prolific, widely-published author writing especially in Horror, fantasy and mystery. His story “Something,” in the current issue, seems to fall into none of those categories: it describes a kind of mystical transition in a realistic mode.
His story “Almost There” appeared in issue 50. Readers may be interested in the ways in which it both resembles and differs from “Something.” Shawn’s bio has been added to Bewildering Bios.

Thomas is about as far from a “new” contributor as it’s possible to get. He’s been a mainstay of Bewildering Stories practically from the start. Old-timers on the Analog and Asimov’s forums automatically click on his name when they see he’s posted something. They know they can count on him for thoughtful and informative insights characterized by a charmingly self-effacing modesty. And veteran readers of Bewildering Stories always turn to him for sensitive, instrospective poetry and fictional articles of great tongue-in-cheek humor and extraordinary originality.
I guess what we’re really welcoming in this issue is Thomas R.’s bio. Thanks, Tom, and keep up the good work!
Michael Tyzuk’s “CDOSB” is an enigmatic honorific that is best decrypted by his own website. You can find a link to it in his bio. The reference to Scotland does not necessarily conflict with Mr. Tyzuk’s jocular claim to be a Canadian, because Canada has become a home for many Scots. On the other hand, he might be Inu (a.k.a. Eskimo)... You’ll just have to look and decide for yourself.
Mr. Tyzuk is the author of the currently-running serial, “The Dilemma.” We hope to receive another one — or at least another story — from him soon!
