Andrew Vrana

When Andrew took a Creative Writing class, he changed his major from Biochemistry to Literary Studies. He says it may not have been a wise move financially, but at least he was doing something he loves. A word of reassurance, Andrew: that definitely sounds like wisdom! Andrew writes science fiction, mainly, but likes to explore other realms of speculative fiction.

“Before the Last Hope Leaves” is a short story that tells of young Deren’s wish to board a hibernation ship with the interstellar colonists leaving for Proxima Centauri. He hasn’t been able to afford a ticket, and his only hope lies in the possible kindness of a stranger. But that stranger belongs to a culture radically different from Deren’s. Somehow there will have to be a meeting of minds.
