“Daddy’s Unexpected Visit” shows how little Dorie is surprised to see her father’s ghost appear outside her bedroom window and ask to be let in. Dorie doesn’t know about ghosts, but she is happy to see her father. From what happens next, readers will wonder whether the ghost really is one and what, exactly, little Dorie witnesses.
