In the Full Moon

by B. Z. Niditch

In the full moon
unbalanced by vertigo,
a poet feeling already translated
to another rim world
of a distant galaxy
watches a stationary sky.

With an observatory in view
he writes down his adventure
here by the Tellurian mountains
encircled by ring walls of craters.

He brushes many glowing lodestars
glistened over glassy mirrors
like a bright avatar
wishing to widen his young imagination
by an unknown astral universe.

In a light-second to space-navigate
with pure expectation,
coaxed by disappearing clouds,
his telescopic eyes see
a foreign body flare.

The spheres of night music
wish him a cool blastoff.
