Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Edward Cress
Edward lives on Long Island. He has a degree in Drama Studies and works as a theater teacher, consultant, playwright and performer.
“The Lifelong Friendship of Dr. Atwood and Jonas” is a very unusual story. It proves that one of Bewildering Stories’ guidelines has limits; it’s the one that says “You know a story is in trouble when it begins to talk about itself.” That does not apply to deliberately self-recursive stories like “Dr. Atwood.”
Rather, the story parodies the process of composing a certain kind of alternate history. It’s the type of story in which a decision, event or condition is changed and is ironically shown to make no difference in the long run.
Edward Cress’s bio sketch can be found here.
Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Edward. We hope to hear from you again soon and often!
