Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Phil Barnes
Phil lives in Minneapolis, where she writes, travels, volunteers to tutor in English, and views obscure “indie” films. She has a coffee-table book of photography and short stories due to appear soon. She says her inspiration comes from visual artists and dark poetry, although she generally does not enjoy poetry.
“Unrelated Events” is a short poem open to many interpretations. One possible reading: a poet may write about the pain of lost love and the “relatively ridiculous chain of unrelated events” that brought it about, but a “tiny little wall” of royalties separates her from the readers. How can they understand “the pretty thing writhing on the concrete” when the circumstances are “perverse” and cannot be “simply simple.”

Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Phil. We hope to hear from you again soon and often!
