Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Ankit Govil
Ankit is from New Delhi but has lived all over India and styles himself as a “born gyspy.” He works as a photo editor, and his passions are food, flying and writing, credit for which he gives to his high-school English teacher.
“To the Pier” climbs a steep hill. Readers are not in the habit of imagining themselves as some other animal, and it is very difficult to gain their sympathy. Further, Bewildering Stories frowns upon misleading the readers.
However, “To the Pier” walks a tightrope of ambiguity without a slip, and the ending does not play a trick on the readers so much as expose their natural preconceptions. Most of all, the story has an unspoken, humorous point to make: there may not be so much difference after all between a pet and its owner.
Ankit Govil’s bio sketch can be found here.
Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Ankit. We hope to hear from you again soon and often!
