Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Steven P. Servis
Steven hails from the Ozarks, where he currently resides. He has a degree from Missouri State University with an emphasis in creative writing. He has published short fiction extensively.
“As the Spider Patiently Waits” has wry overtones of satire about writers, publishing and the attendant money-grubbing. The central image of a spider entrapping a moth applies to the writer Mansur and Sandra, his wife, who is ready to forgo a divorce for the sake of venality.
At the end it’s not exactly clear which — Mansur or Sandra — is the spider and which is the moth, but in the larger scheme of things it hardly seems to matter: both are doomed.
