Bewildering Stories welcomes...

Kenneth W. Harmon

Kenneth lives with his family in Fort Collins, Colorado. In the past year alone, his short stories have appeared in more than a dozen publications. And he has a non-fiction book forthcoming in print next year.

Mr. Howard Retires” introduces Mr. Howard, an old but not elderly man who lives in the country and retains an insatiable appetite — no, make than an unslakable thirst — for young ladies.

The story is really a wry joke about backwoods naivety: we readers can guess very early on what Mr. Howard is and what is going to happen. But nobody in the story has a clue. Even the comely sheriff who invites Mr. Howard to come to headquarters for a nice chat about serial killings doesn’t bring a deputy, let alone a SWAT team. Instead, she stays for dinner. Or as dinner. With Mr. Howard as a new neighbor, country life just isn’t what it used to be.

Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Kenneth. We hope to hear from you again soon and often!
