Fred Miller

Fred lives in South Carolina. He’s a retired Wall Street executive and is now very busy working with charities such as his local food bank, home rebuilding, and the Salvation Army. He has published widely in print and on line.

“The Call” is very strong on scene-setting and atmospherics. It is also very disconcerting: the reader is led to think a desperate financier is ready to leap to his death from a tall building, but a telephone call from his wife allows him to go back into a tavern and rejoin a party in progress. Some readers will feel they’ve been had; others will wonder whether more is going on here than meets the eye.
