Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Patrick Supple
Patrick has a family, has lived in Asia for about ten years, and works in finance. He likes science fiction, fantasy and horror.
I’m not sure whether Patrick is back in Britain or not, but if so, I hope he doesn’t encounter Zog the Alien War-Master. In our pages, that’s quite all right, though: “Zog” is a hilarious study in culture shock, and one of the funniest stories we’ve ever published.
“Zog” reminds me of the time I first visited Merrye Olde Englande. The very first thing I noticed was the ubiquitous silence. Eerie, let me tell you. In the States, conversation is a steady hum. In Canada, people yell — they almost have to; it is a big country, you know.
Even the British customs agents spoke in polite, hushed whispers. I eventually concluded that the only people who spoke out loud in public in Britain were politicians and crazy people. Maybe the line between public and private has changed somewhat since then; I wouldn’t know...

Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Patrick. We hope to hear from you again soon and often!
