Challenge 213

The Zeitgeist Rings Four Times

  1. Luke Jackson has kindly provided some questions about “War Thrash”:

    1. Do you think that the story casts religion in a positive or negative light?
    2. Do you think Gilgamesh made wise or unwise choices, based upon the world he lives in?
    3. What do you foresee happening to Mundo after the story?
    4. Do you consider the story a polemic? If so, what does it say?
  2. Does R D Larson’s “Absolutely Gutted” dash your fondest images of little forest folk? How does the story fit in with the Zeitgeist? What connections can you see between it and “War Thrash,” O. J. Anderson’s “X-Squad,” and Doug Pugh’s “Waterloo Sunset”?

  3. What do you think of the ending to Bertil Falk’s “Crime Does Pay”? What might Howard Harmon learn from the practical joke his friends play on him?

  4. What do you think of the moral at the ending of Sara Hurwitz’ “The Hole”? Is the story better off with or without it? Do you think the flashback adds to the story? Would you have handled it differently?

  5. Exploration question: How does the artwork of Jeff Crouch differ from that of Christine Bruness, Christine Cartwright and Claudio Parentela, among others?
