Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Suzanne Weichhart
What would Bewildering Stories do without Merrie Englande? We have so many contributors from ye olde countrie that I think our Style Manual said we accept British spelling and punctuation even before Mike Lloyd’s Observation One.
Suzanne clues us in to intellectual geography: Essex is a “hotbed of highbrow literary endeavour.” Forsooth, that phrase alone makes it so! But Suzanne has earned a degree in English and American literature and — ironically, I’m sure — says she has decided to loll on her laurels. With two children, let alone a husband. Hm. Yes, sweet repose, I’m sure...
“White Garden,” in this issue, is Suzanne’s first published poem. That is, aside from many haiku published in The Guardian on the politics of the day. When it comes to that subject, one has to salute anyone who has the spirit of brevity!
I can think of one other contributor who specializes in haiku: Mary King. But I think her poems are more lyrical than political.
Suzanne’s bio sketch and photo can be found here.
Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Suzanne. We hope to hear from you again soon and often.
