Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Joe Vadalma
Our ranks of technical writers in the field of computer science swells yet again with the addition of Joe Vadalma. In addition to adventure games and do-it-yourself projects, Joe — a lifelong amateur of science fiction and fantasy — enjoys writing. He’s written fairly prolifically and has had some success in publishing several short stories in e-zines and a series of dark fantasy novels, The Morgaine Chronicles. He’s also published at least two science fiction novels.
“A Visit to the 21st Century” is Joe’s first contribution to Bewildering Stories. It falls into the old and hallowed genre of travel literature, notably the satirical mode, where a stranger from a strange land provides a foreigner’s perspective on the quirks, foibles and dangers of contemporary society. Montesquieu’s 18th-century Parisians asked a fictional visitor, “What’s it like to be a Persian?” Joe’s story tells us something that may be equally... bewildering: what it’s like to be a 21st-century New Yorker.
Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Joe! We hope to hear from you again soon and often.
