Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Kaolin Fire
Kaolin’s bio sketch will give you an explanation of sorts of his very unusual name. I don’t know whether it’s a pen name or not, but it does give me this strange urge to glaze pottery.
Kaolin joins our sizable contingent of computer programmers. As for geography, well, let’s just say he’s been around a lot. His very readable bio also contains a lot of fascinating links to his writing as well as his computer applications, which include games, among other things.
Games, writing, geography... all seem to come together in Kaolin’s first contribution to Bewildering Stories: “Testing.” The story is especially fascinating because it can be read in so many different ways. “Testing,” as in alpha- or beta-testing computer programs. Or perhaps the story is an existential allegory, where humanity powers a radio signal that acts as a kind of prayer wheel as it sends a plaintive “Here we are” message to an unhearing universe. Write and tell us how you read the story!
Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Kaolin. Your message, at least, has been received and here’s a reply. We hope to hear from you again soon and often!
