Bewildering Stories welcomes...
Kevin Ahearn
I’ve long wanted to include Kevin officially in the Bewildering Stories community. Aha, now’s the chance! In one of my frequent searches through my e-mail I discovered a small bio sketch that Kevin sent us last year. I don’t remember why it wasn’t included in our Biographies & Bibliographies at the time. Probably, I asked Kevin to expand on it and then mentally filed it under “wait for reply.” That is not a good way to file things!
Kevin joins a small, select group of veterans whom we’ve welcomed, such as Julian Lawler and Sherry Gray, whose welcome in issue 106 holds the record at more than two years since her first story, in issue 1.
Kevin’s bio emphasizes his experience in Air Force intelligence, which led to his exposing — right here in the pages of Bewildering Stories — the truth about the Roswell space aliens: “Roswell Revealed.”
In a series of thought-provoking letters and discussions on the nature of science fiction, Kevin has shown his passion for the genre; he wants to see it continue ever more popular and better than before. On that we all agree. One of our proudest moments, I think, came when Kevin and I teamed up, after a fashion, in the essay “Writing Beyond the Sky.”
Essays and letters are good, but Kevin has done more, by trying his hand at fiction, as well. We’ve been fortunate to be able to publish four stories of his. In all of them you’ll find a refreshingly keen sense of irony and a wry sense of humor.
Welcome to Bewildering Stories, Kevin — as you’ve always been. We look forward to hearing from you again soon and often!
