Time And Chance

Ecclesiastes 9:11 says something to the effect that the race doesn't belong to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but time and chance befall them all. So true. It really doesn't take much for a life to change dramatically.

Don mentioned last week that I was taking some time off to deal with some family problems. Absolutely. My 33 year old son fell through what he thought was a second story floor onto concrete, broke his wrist and damaged his spine. And he was a self-employed electrical contractor. Fortunately, he has some medical insurance, though not much, and there is liability insurance that some day should take care of all his bills, but in the meantime, he has a lot of bills, and will be in either a backbrace or body cast for at least three months. And he and his wife have little children so she needs to stay home to take care of both him and the kids, so no income.

We're working it out, but it is time-consuming to put all the financial, tax, and business pieces together. So, it is short-schrift time. If it weren't for the work that Don, and now Danielle and Ian (hey, Don, we need to put those kids in the "Who We Are" section...) have done and are doing, the magazine would be the veriest shadow of itself. As it is, it is growing. Thanks, everyone! Even you, Asgrimir! Your stories make us realize that things could be worse! HA!
