I Get It

Got up, got out of bed, got into my work get-up.
Tried to get a little breakfast, but it got too late.
Got on the train as it was getting into the station,
Got to work just before it got dark and the rain got going.

I’ve got so much to do, got plans for my plans.
Getting older, losing my get-up-and-go.
Got to remind myself what I learned long ago,
That when you get right down to it,
All we’ve really got is today
And the shirts on our backs.
