Bewildering Stories biography
I'm one of those people who are not comfortable talking about themselves. But the reality is, if I'm serious about making it as a writer, then I must pull the curtains apart and let the light in. So here goes.
I spent my formative years in England. I was born in Manchester, but we didn't live there. When I was ten, we emigrated to Australia, living in New South Wales and, for a short while, Victoria.
As far as work goes, I've been an electrician climbing inside roofs and under floors, a para-professional Engineering Officer and a Manager. For the last eight years, I've volunteered with the Rural Fire Service here in New South Wales, attaining the rank of deputy captain.
At heart, I am and have always been a dreamer and a writer. I was the kid you saw staring out the window in the classroom. I love to write. I've studied creative writing at Technical and Further Education College and university level to develop my writing skills. Among my qualifications, I have an undergraduate and three Master's degrees from Macquarie University.
Regarding publishing, my short stories have appeared in the New England Review, the University of Technology Sydney Writers' Anthology and Macquarie University's literary journal, The Quarry (twice), and their student magazine, Grapeshot. In addition, online journals such as StylusLit, Australian Reader (defunct), AntipodeanSF, and now Bewildering Stories. This is the first piece of mine to be published outside of Australia.
I have self-published four novels on Amazon and Smashwords: The Flower Woman's Child, The Winning of the Woman, For the Journey is Long and Our Lonely World is Lost, Everyone Lies and, later this year, The Sun Rose in the West That Day.
But far more important to me are my lovely and supportive wife, my three great kids and two grandkids. They are my world.
